Enzo Fernandez 'FED UP' with Chelsea with sights set on 'dream' record Real Madrid transfer
Enzo Fernandez is ‘fed up’ with life in London and is keen to ‘reinvent his life’ with a dream move from Chelsea to Real Madrid this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Fernandez is Chelsea’s record transfer after his €121 million move from Benfica to Stamford Bridge in January 2023 and the club vice-captain has become a fan favourite with his increasingly impressive performances.
The Argentine international is also Chelsea’s second-highest goalscorer this season, with 11 strikes in all competitions and the Blues have no intention of selling such a key player, particularly with six years remaining on his contract.
However, Spanish outlet MARCA report that Fernandez is ‘motivated’ to leave Chelsea for his ‘dream move’ to Madrid due to the weather in London, with the rain and absence of sun ‘something that weighs’ on the 25-year-old.
The report also cites journalist Eduardo Inda on El Chiringuito who claims that Fernandez is ‘fed up’ with London and wants to emulate Argentine teammate and friend Julian Alvarez, who ‘reinvented his life’ after leaving Manchester City for Atletico Madrid in 2024.
It is said that Alvarez’s ‘privacy and personal conditions’ benefitted in Madrid in a city that ‘resembles his interests and satisfactions’, having also struggled with the weather in England due to his Argentine roots.
Real Madrid pessimistic over ‘impossible’ Fernandez record transfer
Despite the seemingly mutual interest between Fernandez and Los Blancos, a transfer has been described as ‘impossible’ by some reports due to Chelsea’s asking price for their star man.
Fernandez has long-been admired by Real, having been requested as a signing by former manager Carlo Ancelotti, but the World Cup winner’s valuation has always proven a problem for the Spanish giants.
Previous coach Xabi Alonso also requested a player in Fernandez’s mould to replace the departed Luka Modric but the club denied his pleas.
However, with tension also potentially growing under new manager Alvaro Arbeloa, the midfield situation is seen as ‘critical’ and it is considered a ‘necessity’ to rebalance the squad with the signing of a playmaker such as Fernandez.
