Mudryk hit with bizarre new ban: Chelsea star faces fresh controversy
Mykhailo Mudryk has become something of a forgotten figure at Chelsea after being provisionally suspended by the FA for failing a drug test – but now the Ukraine winger has once again hit the headlines for unwanted reasons.
It is more than a year since Mudryk was suspended after testing positive for the banned substance meldonium, and the winger now faces a new sanction while he waits on the outcome of his current hearing.
The 25-year-old has been suspended from eSports platform FACEIT for 28 days for toxicity, according to Polish media outlet Gram.
Mudryk banned from Counter-Strike 2
Mudryk has allegedly received the suspension after playing Counter-Strike 2 against Polish players, during which he achieved 38 eliminations to 37 deaths. But he seemed unhappy with his performance, and it is claimed that he made references to the massacres perpetrated by the Nazis in Volhynia, Poland.
Users shared comments that are claimed to have been made by Mudryk reacting angrily after being taunted by his opponents, with one writing: “Bro, do more drugs.”
The former Shakhtar Donetsk attacker will be able to return to gaming in early March.
Fresh blow to Mudryk
This is simply the latest embarrassing chapter of a €70 million move that has turned out to be something of a disaster for both Mudryk and Chelsea.
The Blues fought hard to beat Arsenal to his signature in January 2023, but having paid a lavish fee for the winger, he has struggled to offer any type of return.
Mudryk has managed just 10 goals and eight assists since joining Chelsea, playing 73 times for the club in the process.
It remains uncertain when he will be available to play again for the Blues, though he still has more than five years to left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, where he earns a reported €6 million a year.
