Arsenal edge closer to new striker

Arsenal are reportedly edging closer to the signing of Blackburn Rovers wonderkid Igor Tyjon after he rejected a contract offer from the Ewood Park outfit.

The England U18 international is into the final six months of his current scholarship deal with the Championship outfit and transfer reporter HandofArsenal has revealed that Mikel Arteta's side are currently leading the race for Tyjon, with a fee of €1.15 million (£1m) expected to be enough to secure the 17-year-old’s signature before the end of the winter transfer window.

The Athletic and The Sun have also confirmed that Arsenal are keen to land the Blackburn striker as the club look to bolster their academy ranks with a new striker following the high-profile departure of Chido Obi to Manchester United in 2024.

Man Utd launch Yan Diomande bid

Manchester United have submitted an opening bid worth €90 million for RB Leipzig wonderkid Yan Diomande, as per a bombshell report from Africa Foot

It’s claimed that a meeting between Man Utd and RB Leipzig officials took place this week, with the Bundesliga club issuing permission for the Red Devils to discuss contract terms with the 19-year-old’s representatives.

The 13-time Premier League champions are currently willing to offer Diomande an annual salary of €3.5m and the final details may reportedly be settled before the end of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Liverpool civil war

Arne Slot is embroiled in a civil war with the Liverpool hierarchy that could result in him losing his job at Anfield.

Despite the vast spending sanctioned by the Liverpool board last summer, AnfieldWatch have confirmed that Slot was eager for the club to bolster his options on the left flank following Luis Diaz’s departure to Bayern Munich.

It’s reported that Bradley Barcola (Paris Saint-Germain) and Malick Fofana (Lyon) were both identified as key targets by the Dutchman, however the club refused to pursue a move for either player as they wanted Slot to instead promote talented youngster Rio Ngumoha into the first-team.

However, Slot wanted to send Ngumoha out on loan and sign a more experienced replacement for Diaz. The Liverpool hierarchy subsequently refused and informed Slot that he must give the 17-year-old regular opportunities in the first-team.

AnfieldWatch report that this has “been a source of contention ever since”, with Slot refusing to use Ngumoha regularly, despite his encouraging form whenever trusted.

Joao Cancelo to rejoin Barcelona

Barcelona are set to re-sign Joao Cancelo on loan from Al-Hilal until the end of the 2025-26 season, according to Fabrizio Romano.

“The major exclusive update of the day concerns Joao Cancelo and Barcelona,” the transfer expert said. “After initial scepticism when this story first emerged weeks ago, Barcelona have now submitted an official bid to Al Hilal.

“The proposal is for a loan deal until the end of the season, with Barcelona prepared to cover a small portion of the player’s substantial salary in Saudi Arabia. This marks a key moment, as negotiations are now entering a decisive phase.
