Man Utd given hope in race for €100m Premier League winger
Manchester United have reportedly been alerted to the possibility of signing Brighton & Hove Albion winger Kaoru Mitoma this year.
The Japan international is into the final 18 months of his current contract at the AMEX Stadium and he is set to be the subject of significant transfer interest during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Clubs in Saudi Arabia are expected to rekindle their pursuit of Mitoma later this year, with reports indicating that a €100 million bid had been prepared for the Brighton star last January before he rejected the chance to move to the Middle East.
Intermediaries have now made contact with Mitoma to see if a 2026 transfer is a possibility, while Man Utd and Tottenham are also being kept informed on the situation.
That is according to TEAMtalk, who claim that a move for Mitoma may appeal to the Man Utd hierarchy following the sacking of Ruben Amorim on 5 January.
The 28-year-old has struggled with a foot injury so far this season and he has only registered two goals and one assist in 11 Premier League matches this term, with his latest strike coming in a 1-1 draw versus Manchester City in midweek.
Man Utd’s transfer plan revealed
Mitoma has been linked with a move to Man Utd on several occasions during his time at Brighton and he isn’t the only winger currently being monitored by the Red Devils hierarchy.
The 13-time Premier League champions are among the clubs set to challenge for the signing of RB Leipzig starlet Yan Diomande this summer, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur keeping close tabs on his development too.
However, Man Utd’s transfer priority for 2026 remains in central midfield.
Kobbie Mainoo is set to stay at Old Trafford following the sacking of Ruben Amorim, but Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes have all been linked with a summer exit, and the club are eager to bolster their options in the middle of the park.
Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba have been identified as top targets by INEOS, while Conor Gallagher and Joao Gomes continue to be linked with a move too.
