After being linked with Yan Diomande, Manchester United are now also considering a swoop for RB Leipzig defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu, according to French media.

One would think that the Red Devils currently have bigger fish to fry than transfers following the dismissal of head coach Ruben Amorim on Monday, but director Jason Wilcox and recruitment guru Christopher Vivell remain attentive to the market.

Man Utd are not expected to be particularly busy, having refused to reallocate the funds that were to be spent on Antoine Semenyo before he opted to choose Man City instead.

However, there could still be some movement. The Athletic has confirmed that Man Utd could become active if they sense an opportunity to beat potential rivals to the punch on players originally earmarked for the summer.

Leipzig wonderkid Yan Diomande has been heavily linked with the Red Devils in recent days, but the Bundesliga side insist that he is not for sale in January. They could, however, be open to the departure of a different youngster.

Man Utd monitor Bitshiabu

Centre-back El Chadaille Bitshiabu is looking to leave Leipzig this month after growing frustrated with his bit-part role, and Man Utd are monitoring his situation, L'Equipe reports.

The 20-year-old has only made three Bundesliga appearances under new head coach Ole Werner this season, which is understandably not enough for a player with significant potential.

Man Utd, it is posited, could offer a loan with an option to purchase him in the summer. Vivell previously worked for Leipzig and knows the club inside out, which could work in the Red Devils' favour, as it did during the Benjamin Sesko saga last summer.

However, given that Bitshiabu is looking for regular minutes, he may be tempted to look elsewhere. Monaco are also keen and would offer him significant game time following Mohamed Salisu's ACL injury. Lyon, too, have expressed an interest, as have Bayer Leverkusen.
