Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa is "tempted" by a spectacular return to Juventus, according to Italian media.

The 28-year-old has struggled to make his mark at Anfield since joining in a bargain €12 million transfer in the summer of 2024. Due to his fitness issues, Chiesa barely played in his first season on Merseyside.

This term, Chiesa has been a regular substitute, but head coach Arne Slot still does not seem to be entirely convinced by the Italian. This is somewhat understandable, given that he competes with Mohamed Salah and Liverpool's other high-profile attackers.

Nevertheless, Slot's reluctance to use Chiesa has been baffling at times. The winger has become a cult hero for the fanbase due to his passion and application. His decision to stay and fight for his place after his disappointing first season only further enhanced his reputation.

Despite this, transfer speculation persists. Chiesa is surely not entirely happy with his role in the team, and potential suitors are attentive to his situation.

Chiesa back to Juventus?

Chiesa joined Liverpool after being deemed surplus to requirements by Juventus, but Gazzetta dello Sport now reports that the Bianconeri are interested in bringing the 28-year-old back.

There has been plenty of personnel turnover in Turin since his acrimonious exit, and the new hierarchy is ready to give Chiesa a second chance. New head coach Luciano Spalletti and director Giorgio Chiellini are said to be big admirers of the winger.

It is claimed that the feeling is mutual, with Chiesa attracted by the possibility of making a triumphant return. That said, his stance on a transfer has not changed: although he would like to play a bigger role, he is not desperate to leave Liverpool.

A return is therefore only possible under the right conditions. A lot will depend on Salah's return from the Africa Cup of Nations and what the Egyptian decides to do after his public outburst at Slot in December.

The coach insists that the matter has been put to bed. This means that if Salah stays and regains his starting spot, Liverpool could be receptive to Juventus' interest in Chiesa. The Bianconeri would like to initially bring him back on loan.
