EXCLUSIVE: Man Utd target Morten Hjulmand has Viktor Gyokeres-style exit pact
Manchester United target Morten Hjulmand will be allowed to leave Sporting CP for a reasonable fee next summer after his exemplary conduct in the last window, The Transfers Podcast understands.

The Denmark international attracted the attention of suitors in the summer of 2025 after a number of standout performances for Sporting CP. Hjulmand was made club captain by Ruben Amorim, and the Portuguese was interested in a reunion at Man Utd.
However, the Lisbon giants refused to entertain offers for the 26-year-old. Having lost Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal, Sporting were determined not to sell any other key players and pointed to Hjulmand's €80 million release clause as the fee required to sign him.
Man Utd felt that this price tag was excessive and ultimately did not bid. At the time, The Transfers Podcast revealed that Hjulmand would have been keen on the move and that his camp felt that €50m would have been a reasonable price.
With Amorim no longer at Old Trafford, Hjulmand is believed to have been overtaken by players like Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton on Man Utd's shortlist, but admiration for the Dane remains.
Sporting won't make life difficult for Hjulmand
Speaking on the latest episode of The Transfers Podcast, Sergio Krithinas told host Duncan Castles that Sporting are expected to have more realistic demands for Hjulmand this summer.
The reigning Portuguese champions are appreciative of the fact that the midfielder did not agitate for an exit last year and will not make life difficult for him if he wishes to leave the club. This is similar to the pact that existed with Gyokeres, although that saga famously turned ugly.
"Morten Hjulmand, of course, he's the leader of Sporting, team captain," Krithinas explained. "There is, a bit like there was with Viktor Gyokeres, a kind of agreement with Sporting that they will make it easier for him to leave the club in the summer.
"We have seen this story before, of course, but Hjulmand, the way he behaved last summer, I think the club really appreciated that, and they will not ask for the buyout [clause] to release him."
