Chelsea move 'the most logical thing' for Vinicius Jr after €150m bid claims
Chelsea have been told that a transfer away from Real Madrid is "the most logical thing" for Vinicius Jr, but claims of a €150 million bid have been dismissed.
The Brazil international is facing an uncertain future in Spain's capital due to his strained relationship with head coach Xabi Alonso. The situation no longer appears as tense as it did a few weeks ago, but speculation that the pair don't see eye-to-eye continues unabated.
This has massively complicated the topic of a contract extension for Vinicius. He is tied to Real Madrid until 2027, and the consensus is that Los Blancos want him to commit his long-term future to the club.
However, in addition to reportedly demanding a "historic" salary, Vinicius has told president Florentino Perez that he will not extend his contract as long as the situation with Alonso is not cleared up.
This has given rise to speculation that he could depart in the summer. Saudi clubs hold a long-standing interest in the 25-year-old, but on Sunday, it was claimed that Chelsea were ready to pay a massive €125 million plus €25m in bonuses for the winger.
Vini to Chelsea rumours cleared up
According to Brazilian journalist Leonardo Bertozzi, talk of a bid and a potential move to Chelsea is nothing but "speculation" at this point, but he acknowledges that a 2026 transfer will be the "most logical thing" if Vinicius indeed opts not to extend his contract.
“The Chelsea offer, for now, is just speculation,” he told El Desmarque. “It’s clear that the longer Vinicius waits to renew, the more talk there will be about his future because he only has 18 months left on his contract.
“The most logical thing if he doesn’t sign is for him to be sold this year because Real Madrid wouldn’t let him reach the end of his contract and leave for free.
“There’s one thing that can change everything. It’s not entirely certain that Xabi Alonso will stay at Real Madrid. If they lose the Spanish Super Cup, his future will be up in the air.
“If a new coach arrives, I’d say Vinicius’s chances of staying at Real Madrid could change. For now, I can say that Vinicius doesn’t want to renew his contract, as there are still doubts about his relationship with Xabi Alonso.”
