Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has teased a "busy" end to the January transfer window amid ongoing interest in Jeremy Jacquet.

The Blues have already had a fairly eventful January, even though no new recruits have arrived at Stamford Bridge. Several players have been recalled from loan spells, while emergency summer signing Facundo Buonanotte was sent back to Brighton.

Additionally, Chelsea have terminated the contract of Raheem Sterling, their best-paid player, after he spent the past six months training individually and with the academy teams.

Chelsea attempted to sign Douglas Luiz on loan from Juventus, but they ultimately gave up on the Brazilian when it became clear that the Serie A giants would not accept a straight six-month loan. He has instead rejoined Aston Villa.

However, there may yet be an incoming before the deadline next week. Chelsea remain in talks with Stade Rennais over a deal for young defender Jeremy Jacquet. The Blues want him immediately, but Rennes, who are demanding north of €65 million, want to keep him until the summer.

Rosenior speaks about January business

Speaking at his pre-match press conference for Chelsea's clash with West Ham, head coach Liam Rosenior was asked about the club's January business. Intriguingly, the 41-year-old hinted that it could be a "busy" end to the window.

“The guys [sporting directors] are working hard to stay on top of things in terms of information on what’s out there, who’s interested in our players,” he said. “It’s about being prepared for any development.

“My job, along with the guys, is to make the squad in every area as strong as it can possibly be. Certain players come up that you don’t expect to come up, and then can strengthen you, whether that’s a striker or a wide player or a defender.

“If we see something, I know the guys are willing to do it. I don’t want to bring in players for the sake of bringing in players. There’s a possibility it could be busy, a possibility it could be quiet.”
