Celtic striker scramble escalates as talks with new €1.5m target opened
Celtic have opened talks with FC Noah striker Nardin Mulahusejnovic as they look for more attacking reinforcements, according to a report.
The Hoops have to date made just two January signings, bringing in full-back Julian Araujo and forward Tomas Cvancara on loan. Despite the arrival of the latter, Martin O'Neill wants to make further attacking signings.
His assistant, Shaun Maloney, confirmed on Friday that Celtic could make as many as three more acquisitions before the deadline on Monday night. Discussions have been held with numerous options.
A deal for Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh looks unlikely at this stage, following the Norwegian club's impressive Champions League progression. Talk surrounding the signing of Chelsea outcast David Datro Fofana has also gone somewhat quiet.
Deals for Frosinone star Fares Ghedjemis and Dunajska winger Damir Redzic are advanced, but there remain stumbling blocks for both that need to be overcome. As a result, Celtic have begun negotiations with yet another potential solution.
Celtic target Mulahusejnovic
According to Rudy Galetti, Celtic have made contact with FC Noah for their striker Nardin Mulahusejnovic, a former Bosnia and Herzegovina youth international who has scored nine goals this term.
Five of his goals for the Armenian side came in the Conference League group stage, making him the competition's joint-top goalscorer at present. The 27-year-old only joined the club in the summer after a 16-goal campaign for Bosnian side Zrinjski Mostar.
Galetti reports that Celtic are in talks for Mulahusejnovic, while Rapid Vienna have already seen a bid rejected. The Austrians made a loan offer with a €1.5 million purchase option. Noah, however, will only consider permanent proposals.
The transfer reporter claims that an unnamed second Scottish team have also shown an interest in Mulahusejnovic. It is unclear how advanced Celtic's discussions over a deal for the striker are at present. What is clear, though, is that time is running out.
