Yaya Toure has launched an astonishing attack on Pep Guardiola, describing his former manager as a ‘snake’ and claims from his wife that the Manchester City boss ‘treated him like dirt’.

Toure and Guardiola have endured a strained relationship since the Spanish coach sold the midfielder to Manchester City in 2010 in order to promote Sergio Busquets from the youth team.

Guardiola eventually joined City in 2016 when Toure was at the club and the Ivorian saw his role diminished before leaving two years later after a bust up between his agent and the manager.

Speaking to French YouTuber ZACK, Toure said: I don't see a man, I see a snake,” when asked about Guardiola.

“The Barcelona coach calls me back then and says ‘you have to come back, it's important’. My wife says to me ‘are you going to listen to that nonsense? He treated you like dirt, and now he wants you to stay, and you're going to stay? Let's go to Manchester, my brother’.

“The guy didn't play me all year, and at the end of the year, I shine at the World Cup (2010), and he brings me to Barcelona. My wife would tell me about him ‘sheytan, he's not a man, he's wicked’. She sees him as a negative person.”

Toure renews bitter feud with Guardiola after relationship breakdown

Toure had proven to be an important player for Barcelona since joining them in 2007 under Frank Rijkaard and he also featured regularly in Guardiola’s first season in 2008/09.

However, his minutes were reduced significantly the following year when he completed 90 minutes on just nine occasions and regularly played out of position at centre-back, leading to his decision to join City.

By the time Guardiola joined City in 2016, Toure had become a legend for the club, leading them to their first Premier League title and being considered one of the best midfielders in the world.

But, again, Guardiola’s tenure saw Toure’s minutes reduced and he was left out of the club’s Champions League squad, which led to the Ivorian’s agent claiming his client had been ‘humiliated’ by the decision.

Guardiola refused to include Toure in the team until he received an apology, to which the player provided on behalf of his agent, however he played just ten Premier League games in his final campaign for City before leaving and it appears tensions have not calmed between the pair since.
