Liverpool manager Arne Slot’s future was plunged into further jeopardy this weekend due to Mohamed Salah’s fiery words following a 3-3 draw with Leeds United in the Premier League.

Salah claims that he has been “thrown under a bus” by Liverpool and Slot after being named as a substitute in three successive Premier League matches.

This came after the Reds conceded a very late equaliser at Elland Road, leaving them ninth in the Premier League, 10 points off the pace of leaders Arsenal.

Slot faces the dual threat of Liverpool’s star player publicly attacking him and the club’s poor form as he fights for his job.

But things could be about to get a whole lot more complicated for the Dutchman as a leading contender to take his job, should he be sacked, appears ready to put himself on the market.

Oliver Glasner ready to quit Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner is ready to quit his duties at Selhurst Park, according to an astonishing claim that, if it comes true, will put Slot’s own job security in serious doubt.

Glasner has enjoyed a sensational spell with the Eagles, notably leading them to last season’s FA Cup. And despite the challenge of Conference League football this season, they sit fourth in the Premier League.

But all is not well at Palace. Glasner attacked the ownership after a defeat at Manchester United, claiming he had not been well backed in the transfer market.

He is now ready to quit the club and, therefore, put himself in line to inherit Slot’s job at Liverpool.

’Long-running problem’

Football Insider source Mick Brown, a former chief scout at Manchester United who remains well-connected, claims: “This isn’t something that’s come out of the blue. He’s directly criticising the owners and directors in public, and that’s never a good sign, so as things stand, I expect he’s going to walk away.

“From what I’m told, this is something that’s been going on for a while in terms of him speaking to the board and asking for more backing, especially after their success in the FA Cup last season.

“It’s something he will have brought up behind the scenes, and something he’s been talking to the chairman about, but he doesn’t feel he’s had that backing.

“It’s a long-running thing at Palace, maybe if they spend big in January the situation could change, but his comments seem like that might not be the case.”

Liverpool manager Slot will be particularly attentive to the issue, as his future could yet be tied to that of Glasner, who would be a natural candidate to replace him at Anfield.
