Thiago Silva's son signs professional Chelsea contract
Chelsea have handed Isago Silva, the son of former Blues defender Thiago Silva, his first professional contract.
The 17-year-old has been playing in the Chelsea academy since his famous father arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2020, following an illustrious eight-year stint at PSG.
In 2024, Thiago Silva returned to his formative club Fluminense, but Isago stayed behind and continued his development in the Chelsea academy, where he is moving between the U17s and U18s this season.
Like his father, Isago is primarily a defender, capable of playing at left-back and centrally. He has now put pen to paper on his first professional deal, but he still looks to be some way off making his first-team debut.
Intriguingly, his father could perhaps soon follow his development much more closely than he is currently able to in Brazil. Recent reports in Italy have claimed that AC Milan are mulling over bringing 41-year-old Thiago Silva back to the club in January.
Official Chelsea statement
For now, though, the only member of the Silva family still playing in Europe is young Isago, who looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
"We are delighted to announce that Chelsea Academy defender Isago Silva has signed his first professional contract with the club," an official Chelsea statement read.
"The 17-year-old has been a Blue since joining us ahead of his Under-13s season. In that time, he has developed into a versatile and reliable defender, comfortable operating at both left-back and centre-back.
"During his Under-16s campaign in 2024/25, Isago Silva made his Under-18s debut against Leicester City.
"This season, he featured in the thrilling 3-3 draw with Sheffield United in the Under-18 Premier League Cup. He has also appeared three times in our Under-17 Premier League Cup campaign.
"Congratulations, Isago!"
