Enzo Maresca forces Chelsea to agree wonderkid transfer
Chelsea wonderkid Shumaira Mheuka could reportedly leave the club on loan during the January transfer window in order to gain valuable first-team experience.
The England U19 international is regarded as one of the best young prospects in European football, however he is yet to break into Enzo Maresca’s side and a temporary exit could be on the cards next month.
Mheuka has played a total of six times for Chelsea’s senior team, but a 20-minute cameo versus Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup back in September is his only appearance so far this season and he is now ready for more regular first-team minutes.
That is according to The Evening Standard, who report that a January loan move for Mheuka will be “openly considered” by the Chelsea hierarchy as the 18-year-old looks to make the step up from academy football.
BBC Sport have also confirmed that Mheuka is open to securing a six-month loan deal away from Stamford Bridge in order to boost his development in the senior game, with Chelsea set to assess the possible options before coming to a final decision.
Shumaira Mheuka could leave Chelsea on loan
Mheuka has scored a whopping 25 goals and provided three assists in 23 youth-team games for club and country so far this campaign, but he hasn’t been included in a single Premier League matchday squad.
Chelsea boss Maresca has instead favoured the more experienced trio of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Marc Guiu, despite the fact the latter two players are both yet to score in the English top flight this season.
As a result, the Blues starlet is now ready to depart the club on loan in January, although it remains to be seen if he will join a club in England or if he will travel abroad.
