Chelsea contact €100m star as contract confirmation arrives
Chelsea have made contact with Juventus starlet Kenan Yildiz – a player there is an increasingly desperate battle to sign.
The playmaker went through a difficult spell of form in the autumn but has emerged from that with three goals and an assist in his last three Serie A games, as well as decisive passes in each of his last two Champions League outings.
His form has caught the eye of Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal, while Juventus have indicated that they are determined to tie him down to a new contract.
Although he is committed to the Turin giants until 2029, if they are not successful in their contract talks, the likelihood is that the Turkey international will leave to one of his suitors from England.
CaughtOffside reports that contract talks with the player have stalled, opening the door for Chelsea to potentially sign him.
Kenan Yildiz wage demands revealed
Yildiz essentially wants a pay rise that Juventus are refusing to give him. He earns around €1.5 million a year but is said to be demanding around €6m – a figure representative of his increasingly important status in the squad.
Juventus are unwilling to go so high – but Chelsea are said to be watching developments with interest.
A key figure in this deal could be super agent Jorge Mendes, who represents the 20-year-old and maintains a close relationship with the London side.
Yildiz fits Chelsea’s signing profile perfectly. Not only are the Blues seeking additional attacking midfielders, he is also the correct age and talent level to make the jump.
Contract talks confirmed
Juventus sporting director Giorgio Chiellini has been firm that the Serie A giants are doing everything in their power to ensure Yildiz does not leave them.
“Kenan has a long contract with us; everything can't be resolved in a week. Our shared desire is to continue together; we know how important that is. We want to live up to his status,” he said (via Nicolo Schira).
Juve reportedly want a fee of €100m if they are to sell Yildiz – a figure that will give Chelsea pause for thought.
