Mikel Arteta receives shock Arsenal transfer message
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been told to sign Portugal star Bruno Fernandes amid his uncertain future at Manchester United.
The 31-year-old has been heavily linked with an Old Trafford departure in recent days following a bombshell interview in which he admitted the club wanted to sell him this summer.
Fernandes ultimately opted to remain with the Red Devils for another season, however it’s understood that an exit in 2026 is on the cards.
Several clubs in the Saudi Pro League have been tipped to pursue a blockbuster deal for the Portugal international, while Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have also emerged as possible suitors in recent months.
However, Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes his former club should consider a transfer for Fernandes, despite the fact they already have Martin Odegaard, Eberechi Eze, Kai Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri as options in the No.10 role.
Bruno Fernandes to Arsenal?
“When you look at Bruno’s quotes, it comes back to Man United being indecisive,” Wright admitted on the latest episode of The Overlap.
“So someone comes in for Bruno Fernandes last summer… you shut that down.
“He didn’t want to go. Bruno is basically saying the club went: ‘It’s up to you if you want to leave’. That’s not what you want to hear when you’re the person who has basically held the club up by yourself.
“You want the club to say: ‘You’re not going nowhere, you’re a massive part of this”. But Manchester United didn’t do that.”
“They gave him the option and said: ‘If you want to go, you can go’. What is that saying to him? I would take him [at Arsenal] tomorrow.”
Fernandes has scored five goals and provided seven assists in 16 Premier League games so far this season, with only Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland able to better his tally of 12 direct goal contributions.
