Paul Pogba suffers new injury setback: Monaco debut delayed again
Paul Pogba's long-awaited AS Monaco debut has had to be delayed yet again after the 2018 World Cup winner suffered a fresh injury blow.
The 32-year-old has yet to make a competitive appearance since he was hit with a four-year doping ban in 2023. Although his suspension was reduced to 18 months, Pogba is still waiting for his return to competitive football.
He joined AS Monaco in the summer, but despite keeping himself fit in Miami during his absence, the Ligue 1 club made it clear to him that it would take at least three months before he would be match-ready again.
His special training regime has come to an end, but Pogba's debut is still not in sight. The initial plan was for him to play his first minutes on 18 October against Angers, but that had to be delayed after he suffered a minor injury in training during the international break.
Monaco refused to put an exact timeline on his potential availability, but recent tests were positive. Head coach Sebastien Pocognoli had hoped to finally give him his highly anticipated debut against Paris FC on Saturday evening.
Pogba sufferes new setback
On Friday, Monaco teased Pogba's expected return to football by posting footage of him in training. However, Pocognoli was later forced to announce that the former France international's debut had to be pushed back several weeks again.
Pogba injured his ankle in training, and he will not be fit for the clash with Paris today. In fact, it is not expected that he will be able to play before the November international break.

“We are awaiting confirmation of the severity of the injury,” Pocognoli said. "The idea is that he can be available after the international break. That is the plan that we are following. We are all disappointed.”
Monaco's first game after the international break will be away at Stade Rennais before they travel to Cyprus to face Pafos in the Champions League. The following weekend, they will host PSG.
