Joshua Zirkzee makes another terrible career choice as Man Utd exit looms
The agent of Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee is pushing for his client to stay in the Premier League despite his desire to return to Serie A, according to Italian media.
The Netherlands international is fearing for his place at the 2026 World Cup and is looking to leave the Red Devils in January. Zirkzee has again been omitted from the Dutch squad, with even Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha preferred despite only recently recovering from a lengthy injury.
Although Zirkzee is not desperate to depart Man Utd permanently, he does want to go out on loan in a bid to get minutes under his belt. According to recent reports, he is keen to return to Serie A, where he had huge success with Bologna.
AS Roma, who need to get creative due to financial constraints, have reportedly offered Artem Dovbyk in exchange for Zirkzee, but Man Utd have no interest in the Ukraine international.
As things stand, it is not clear yet if Man Utd will even sanction the 24-year-old's exit. They would like to get a replacement in and want his full salary covered. With Benjamin Sesko currently injured, they will be even more reluctant to allow Zirkzee to leave.
Zirkzee agent pushing for Premier League move
Gazzetta dello Sport has now provided an interesting update on the situation. The Italian outlet claims that Zirkzee's agent Kia Joorabchian is pushing for his client to stay in the Premier League, where West Ham have been credited with an interest.
This is intriguing because it was Joorabchian who allegedly ruined Zirkzee's move to AC Milan last year. The striker was keen on the transfer, but the agent, it was claimed at the time, demanded an excessive commission, which the Rossoneri were not prepared to pay.
This allowed Man Utd to swoop in, and everybody can see how well that move has gone. Joorabchian could now again pressure Zirkzee into making a poor career choice.
The Dutchman is said to favour a move to Roma, who were briefly at the summit of Serie A at the weekend, over a relegation battle with the Hammers, but 'economic reasons' are compelling his representative to lobby for a move to Man Utd's Premier League rivals.
