Manchester United are ready to let Aston Villa loanee Jadon Sancho leave on a free transfer next summer, according to a report.

The former England international is once again struggling to resuscitate his ailing career after leaving Man Utd for Aston Villa on loan late in the summer transfer window.

A panic move in the truest sense of the term, this transfer has not worked out for anyone. Sancho is barely playing, Aston Villa have a dud on their hands and Man Utd are seeing an already-depreciated asset decrease in value further.

The Red Devils hoped that Sancho would boost his value with some good performances at Villa Park. Although his contract expires in 2026, Man Utd have a club option to extend it by a season, which could allow them to pocket a fee next summer.

However, talkSPORT reports that this hope is quickly fading, given his poor start to the season. Sancho has yet to start in the Premier League, and he has even been substituted on and off in the same game.

Man Utd to let Sancho walk away

The report claims that Man Utd are now ready to let Sancho walk away from Old Trafford for free next summer, as they see little sense in exercising their option.

The risk of having to pay his massive wage for another year outweighs the potential reward of the nominal transfer fee he could fetch. If recent summer windows have shown anything, then that selling Sancho is no easy feat.

It was widely expected that he would join Chelsea in the previous window as his loan to Stamford Bridge included a purchase obligation. However, after failing to agree terms with him, the Blues exercised a clause to send him back in exchange for a €6 million penalty fee.

Instead of artificially prolonging his miserable spell at Old Trafford, Man Utd are ready to cut their losses and accept that his €85 million signing was a huge mistake. His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has plummeted from a 2021 peak of €108.7m to €20.8m.
