The Daily Mirror reports that the injury could prompt Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim to consider signing another forward mid season.

With Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo set to be away at the Africa Cup of Nations, United will be short in attack even if Sesko's injury is not severe.

Man Utd to sign another striker?

The early reports suggest that Sesko will be out for a matter of weeks rather than months.

'Physio Scout', who is one of the best sources of injury news, tweeted on X that they didn't believe the injury was too serious.

"Benjamin Šeško had to come off in Man United’s draw vs. Spurs with a left knee issue. Pretty innocuous injury - no clear mechanism which points towards any specific injury straight away," he wrote.

"Hard deceleration plus his global palpation area points more toward an irritative/overload knee problem than any ligament injury.

"Early reports suggest that the first checks were encouraging, with an MRI scheduled for today to confirm details.

"Potential Recovery Times: Fat-pad irritation ± synovitis: less than 2 weeks.

"Minor capsular/synovial flare: less than one week.

"Again, nothing big to be worried about off footage."

Sesko disappointed once again on Saturday during the 2-2 draw with Tottenham.

It was just the latest poor performance from the Slovenian, who has struggled badly at Old Trafford so far.

There were big hopes for Sesko when Man Utd splashed out as much as €85 million to sign the striker from RB Leipzig.

However, he failed to register a goal or assist in his first six games for Man Utd.

It appeared that maybe the tide would turn when he scored back-to-back against Brentford and Sunderland at the end of September and start of October.

But Sesko has since failed to score, managing no goals in his last four matches for United.

In total this season, for club and country, Sesko has a very disappointing two goals and two assists in 16 matches.

Sesko emerged as one of Europe's most admired young strikers at Leipzig.

Sesko scored 18 goals in 42 games for his club in 2024-25 and went to Euro 2024 with Slovenia.

He has 16 goals in 45 games for Slovenia.
