How good is Erling Haaland's penalty record?
Erling Haaland has enjoyed a sublime start to the 2025-26 season for both club and country, but his first major blemish came during Manchester City’s 3-0 victory versus Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
The 25-year-old has scored 28 goals in 18 games for Norway and Man City so far this campaign, including the opener against Arne Slot’s side, however he saw his penalty kick effort in the 13th minute saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
The Georgia international was adjudged to have fouled Man City attacker Jeremy Doku following a VAR intervention and Haaland unsurprisingly stepped up to take the spot-kick.
However, his left-footed effort was well saved by Mamardashvili, who guessed correctly and palmed Haaland’s strike away from danger.
The Norway superstar is unlikely to lose penalty duty at Man City, given his pedigree as a world-class goalscorer, but how good is his record from the spot?
Erling Haaland’s penalty record
Throughout his entire career, Haaland has taken a total of 62 penalties. He has scored 52 and missed only 10, with a success rate of 83.9%.
At Molde, Haaland scored all four of his penalty efforts, while he was successful with 100% of his four spot kicks during his time at RB Salzburg.

Haaland netted 11 of his 13 penalties at Borussia Dortmund, missing two, and he has scored 10 out of 12 for Norway’s senior and youth teams.
For Man City, Haaland has scored 23 penalties and missed six.
Although his record was excellent during the early years of his career, the Norway star has fared slightly worse recently.
In fact, since the start of the 2024/25 season, Haaland has scored seven and missed five of his penalty kicks. During that time, his success rate stands at 58.3%, while that figure stood at 90% before the start of last year.
