Chelsea Transfer News Today: Enzo Fernandez makes Real Madrid decision as deal confirmed
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Chelsea transfer news, including updates on Enzo Fernandez and Morgan Rogers.
Enzo Fernandez makes Real Madrid decision
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has reportedly rejected the advances of Real Madrid following a meeting with the Spanish giants.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Los Blancos in recent months, however he has now snubbed the chance to complete a transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu.
That is according to a report from transfer journalist Aaron Ramiro, who posted on X: “Enzo Fernandez firmly rejects Florentino Perez's transfer advances after key meeting with player's entourage, with Chelsea discussing an improved contract for the club's vice captain.”
Fernandez is instead set to remain at Stamford Bridge for the foreseeable future.
Morgan Rogers deal confirmed
Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers has officially signed a new contract with Unai Emery’s club, putting an end to transfer speculation that he could leave for Chelsea.
The Birmingham club have confirmed that Rogers has agreed a deal that will keep him at Villa Park until 2031 and is the latest player to commit his future to the club, with John McGinn having penned a new deal last week.
Although the player has added just one year to his previous deal, the agreement is vital to keep the in-demand attacker at the club.
Upon confirmation of his new deal, Rogers said: “The faith from the people at the club is a really nice feeling, and I couldn’t wait to sign. I’m really happy. It’s home. Being from the area makes it that bit sweeter, but the manager, the players, the staff, everyone here is so warm and welcoming every day.
“I’m excited to come in and train, work hard and give my all every day. I really enjoy it. The most important thing for me is enjoying my football and being able to express myself. There’s no reason why I wouldn’t want to stay here.”
Victor Osimhen interest rekindled
Chelsea have reportedly rekindled their interest in Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen after opting against finalising a deal this summer.
Since his permanent move to Okan Buruk’s side, Osimhen has continued his excellent goalscoring form and he has already netted on nine occasions in 12 matches so far this season, including six in the Champions League.
His form has caught the attention of several elite European clubs, with Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain all eager to sign the 26-year-old next summer.
That is according to Turkish publication Fanatik, who state that Barcelona and Liverpool are currently leading the charge for his signature, despite the fact the former have well-documented financial issues and the latter signed both Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike this summer.
It’s also reported that clubs in Saudi Arabia will renew their interest in Osimhen next year, with the Galatasaray star set to receive contract proposals that exceed €43m per annum.
Real Madrid talks revealed
Chelsea are reportedly in “direct contact” with Real Madrid over a possible deal for Brazil winger Rodrygo.
The 24-year-old was heavily tipped to complete a Premier League transfer this summer, amid interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, however nobody was willing to match Real Madrid’s €100 million valuation.
Despite this, Rodrygo continues to be linked with a Santiago Bernabeu departure and Chelsea want to finalise a deal in 2026.
This has now been confirmed by transfer reporter IndyKaila, who posted on X: “Chelsea in direct contract with Real Madrid. The subject is Rodrygo.
“Chelsea [are] willing to do [a] deal for January or summer. Confirmed!”
Sunderland target Fermin Lopez
Sunderland have submitted an €80 million offer for Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, according to a bombshell report from Spain.
Regis Le Bris’ side have enjoyed a spectacular start to the 2025-26 Premier League season, following their promotion from the Championship, and they are currently fourth in the English top flight table after 11 matches.
Spanish publication Fichajes now claim that Sunderland have “surprised the football world” by lodging an €80m bid for the aforementioned Fermin.
The 22-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, however the Blues were unable to finalise an agreement with Barcelona, while the Spain international never pushed to leave Camp Nou.
He had been identified as the club’s priority target to provide cover for Cole Palmer, but the transfer failed to materialise and Chelsea instead opted to sign Facundo Buonanotte on a season-long loan deal from Brighton & Hove Albion.
