Chelsea handed €20m discount as striker deal edges closer
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have both been informed that FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa will be available for €80 million next summer, according to reports in Portugal.
The Spain international, 21, has been heavily linked with a 2026 exit and it has now been revealed that Porto are open to sanctioning a sale if their asking price is met.
Aghehowa’s current contract at Porto, which is due to expire in 2029, includes a €100m release clause, however Portugal publication Correio de Manha (via Metro) claim that a fee of €80m will be enough to secure his signature next year.
In fact, it’s understood that Porto are willing to sell their star striker during the upcoming January transfer window due to ongoing financial issues.
The 21-year-old has scored 36 goals in 57 appearances for Porto since his arrival from Atletico Madrid last summer and multiple outlets have confirmed that he has been earmarked as a possible striker signing by both Chelsea and Spurs.
Samu Aghehowa to join Chelsea or Tottenham?
Chelsea were on the verge of landing Aghehowa last year, but the deal collapsed at the last minute due to issues over personal terms and they eventually opted to sign Joao Felix on a permanent deal in order to finalise the sale of Conor Gallagher in the opposite direction.
However, they have now rekindled their interest in his signature despite the presence of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Marc Guiu, and the imminent arrival of Emanuel Emegha from Strasbourg next summer.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are eager to land the Spain striker amid reports that Richarlison is set to leave the club in 2026.
New boss Thomas Frank is also reportedly unconvinced by Dominic Solanke, and the reigning Europa League champions are set to pursue a new striker during the January transfer window, with Aghehowa among their top targets.
