Chelsea chase €30m star BETTER than Joao Pedro
Chelsea have reportedly joined Barcelona in the race to sign Crystal Palace defender Daniel Munoz next summer.
The Colombia international, 29, has developed into one of the best wing-backs in world football since his move to Selhurst Park in January 2024 and his recent form has attracted significant interest from across Europe.
Munoz has emerged as a key target for Barcelona in recent weeks, amid their pursuit of a suitable back-up to Jules Kounde, and multiple reports in Spain have confirmed that Hansi Flick’s side are eager to finalise a deal in 2026.
However, Chelsea have now expressed their interest in signing the 29-year-old, despite the fact that Enzo Maresca already has Reece James, Malo Gusto and Josh Acheampong as senior right-back options.
That is according to Mundo Deportivo, who claim that Munoz has attracted the attention of both Chelsea and Manchester City ahead of 2026.
It’s reported that Crystal Palace value Munoz at just €30 million, despite his impressive form since his arrival at the club, however he would become the oldest player in Chelsea’s first-team squad and would therefore represent a fairly major outlier in regards to their recent transfer strategy.
Daniel Munoz to join Chelsea?
In addition to being one of the best defenders in the Premier League, Munoz would automatically become an integral player at Chelsea if the Blues are successful in their bid to sign him.
That is according to data analytics experts SciSports, who believe Munoz would become the fifth best player in the Chelsea first-team squad, behind only Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer, Jamie Gittens and Levi Colwill.
The Colombia star would therefore usurp the likes of Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernandez in the list of Chelsea’s best players, as per SciSports.
However, it’s understood that Barcelona remain the frontrunners for his signature.
