Arsenal SHOCK as top source reveals Premier League interest in superstar
Premier League clubs are starting to circle Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly due to his lack of minutes, according to Sky Sports.
The 19-year-old was one of English football's breakout stars of the 2024/25 season. Thrown into the deep end by Mikel Arteta, Lewis-Skelly was sensational in his first few senior outings for Arsenal.
A midfielder by trade, the teenager was used as a makeshift left-back and impressed so much that he swiftly earned a call-up to Thomas Tuchel's England squad. His upwards trajectory continued when he scored on his Three Lions debut.
However, the situation is drastically different this season. Riccardo Calafiori has been brilliant for the Gunners, while Piero Hincapie was signed in the summer to act as the Italian's nominal backup.
This has left Lewis-Skelly on the outside looking in. Unable to displace Calafiori or to break into the North London club's stacked midfield, the youngster has played more minutes in two Carabao Cup games than in seven brief Premier League cameos.
Premier League clubs keeping tabs on Lewis-Skelly
According to Sky Sports, Lewis-Skelly's lack of game time has emboldened Premier League rivals to keep a close eye on his situation with a view towards a potential transfer.
No suitors are explicitly named, but the report claims that 'a number of Premier League clubs are monitoring' the 19-year-old. As things stand, it does not appear to be more than that, and Arsenal won't weaken their squad in the January transfer window.
Lewis-Skelly recently signed a new five-year contract, so Arsenal are well protected against any potential advances from his admirers. It is, however, interesting to note that the academy graduate would represent pure profit.
The report states that 'there are no pressing financial constraints' with regard to the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules, but Arsenal were said to be cutting it quite close with UEFA's Squad Cost Ratio rule in the summer.
The Gunners racked up the largest net spend in world football in the previous transfer window, only raising around €10 million from sales, while spending almost €300m on new recruits.
Given that Arsenal are among the favourites for the Premier League and Champions League, this season is bound to be a lucrative one in terms of revenues, but it remains to be seen if it will be enough to stave off having to make some potentially painful sales further down the line.
