The 16-year-old has been the breakout star of the current 2. Bundesliga season. A classy holding midfielder in the mould of Martin Zubimendi, Eichhorn has taken German football by storm.

The teenager is already a regular for fallen giants Hertha as they seek to return to the Bundesliga, and he hasn't looked out of place despite coming up against grizzled veterans 10, 20 years his senior.

Naturally, the youngster's emergence has attracted the attention of elite clubs. Last week, it was revealed that Arsenal and other Premier League sides have taken an interest in Eichhorn.

Now, Sky Germany has provided an update on the situation, which can be succinctly summed up as follows: Eichhorn is being chased by quite literally every top club around Europe.

Eichhorn has a bargain release clause

The German publication has also revealed some previously unknown details of Eichhorn's contract, which he signed in the summer. For one, he is tied to Hertha until 2029.

Minors are only permitted to sign three-year deals, but an easy way around this is to agree a three-year youth contract, which automatically extends by two years once the player turns 18.

Additionally, it has been disclosed that Eichhorn has a release clause that is significantly cheaper than the €20 million price tag that has been touted in the media recently.

His release clause has been described as 'complicated' because its value depends on several factors, such as the purchasing club and whether Hertha gain Bundesliga promotion. The upper limit of his clause is €12m, the lower limit is €10m.

This affordable price has only sought to increase the attention he has been receiving from suitors. His family and representatives are staying calm and want to allow the youngster to develop in peace. This is why he has been forbidden from giving media interviews.

It is therefore not set in stone that he will leave Hertha in the summer, but it is a concrete possibility, given the sheer amount of interest in his services. One insider is said to have described the attention as 'unprecedented.'

The problem that Arsenal and other English suitors will face is that Eichhorn won't be able to move to the UK for almost two more years. This is why it is likely that the teenager will remain in Germany.

RB Leipzig, in particular, are said to be pushing hard to secure his signature. Club bosses were in attendance to watch him live in action against Kaiserslautern at the weekend. Bayern and Dortmund scouts have also been regularly watching him.
