Manchester United are confident of reaching an agreement to sign Leicester City midfielder Louis Page in 2027 after a proposed deal fell through on Transfer Deadline Day.

The 18-year-old was widely tipped to secure an Old Trafford switch before the end of the summer window, with a deal close to being fully agreed, but the two clubs were ultimately unable to finalise the transfer.

Instead, Page will stay at the King Power Stadium until at least January, with the midfielder playing the entire 90 minutes in each of the Foxes’ last three League One fixtures.

The England U19 international, who was named EFL Apprentice of the Year last season and has previously been compared to Jude Bellingham, has made 27 first-team appearances for Leicester and he was on Arsenal’s radar before Man Utd attempted to finalise a deal during the final weeks of the summer window.

While the Red Devils were unable to bring him to Old Trafford before the end of Deadline Day, widespread reports have confirmed that talks over a deal are likely to continue in the coming months as they look to finally reach an agreement with Leicester.

In fact, the Manchester Evening News report that Michael Carrick’s side “remain confident” they will be able to bring him to the club in 2027.

It’s understood that Leicester are demanding a fee in excess of the €11.7 million that Manchester City paid to sign Jeremy Monga this summer, despite the fact that Page has less first-team experience than the winger and significantly less hype surrounding his potential.

Who else will Man Utd sign in 2027?

In addition to pursuing an agreement for Page, Man Utd are also expected to finally sign a new left-back in 2027.

The Red Devils earmarked Newcastle United star Lewis Hall as their top left-back target this summer, however Matthias Jaissle’s side had no interest in sanctioning a sale and Man Utd were told that a deal would not be finalised before Deadline Day.

Despite this, they are set to try again next year, with the club eager to bolster their backline after improving their attack and midfield in back-to-back summer transfer windows.

A new central defender may also be targeted if Man Utd decide against retaining Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire, both of whom have been tipped to depart Old Trafford in 2027.
