Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim wants to solve his midfield problems by signing Jobe Bellingham on loan from Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window.

Bellingham was a target for the Red Devils prior to the summer but opted to follow in the footsteps of his big brother Jude by making the move to Bundesliga club Dortmund.

The 20-year-old has struggled to find his best form since switching to the German side in a deal worth €30.5 million, having previously starred with Sunderland as they won promotion to the Premier League. Although he has made 11 appearances, he has started only two games and has yet to find the net.

Meanwhile, there is tension between the player’s father and Sebastian Kehl, the sporting director of Dortmund. Mark Bellingham criticised the decision to replace his son on his Bundesliga debut.

Man Utd hope to take advantage of this situation by signing Bellingham in a loan move that is being spearheaded by Amorim himself, The Express reports.

Despite the interest from the Old Trafford side, it’s unclear whether Bellingham is open to a move to United or whether he wants to continue his integration in Germany.

Jobe Bellingham to Man Utd: Could it happen?

A loan for Bellingham would be a smart solution for Man Utd and Amorim to bring more depth to their midfield in January given that there is a strong possibility that Kobbie Mainoo will seek to leave after being kept on the fringes of the squad for the first half of the season.

Manuel Ugarte is also struggling for form and is expected to move on from the club, creating another opening that Bellingham could potentially fill.

There is no doubt that a move for Bellingham still looks a long way off, but if Mainoo really is determined to leave on loan in January, this is a possibility that Man Utd would be wise to explore.
