Man Utd prepare for major departure with €70m signing
Manchester United are reportedly ready to submit a €70 million offer for Athletic Club midfielder Oihan Sancet amid fears over Bruno Fernandes’ long-term future at Old Trafford.
The Portugal international was heavily linked with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia this summer, although he opted to reject significant interest from the Middle East in order to continue his career with Ruben Amorim’s side.
However, clubs in the Saudi Pro League are expected to rekindle their interest in the 31-year-old in 2026, while Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have also expressed their desire to land Fernandes next summer.
It’s understood that Fernandes may be open to leaving Old Trafford if the club fail to qualify for the Champions League yet again this season, with Bayern believed to be among the frontrunners to secure his services.
Man Utd target Oihan Sancet
Man Utd are expected to sign at least one new midfielder in 2026, and they have now identified the aforementioned Sancet as a key target.
That is according to Spanish publication Fichajes, who claim that an offer of €70m is being prepared by the Red Devils.
Man Utd have reportedly sent scouts to watch Sancet in action at San Mames on a number of occasions so far this season and they view the 25-year-old as the ideal player to bolster their midfield ranks amid concerns that Fernandes could depart.
Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have been touted as possible destinations for Sancet over the past few months too, however Man Utd are seemingly eager to win the race for his signature next summer.
In addition to Sancet, Man Utd have also been heavily linked with the likes of Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson and Carlos Baleba in recent weeks, while Sevilla star Lucien Agoume was on their radar this summer.
