Jurgen Klopp open to BOMBSHELL Liverpool return as Slot faces sack
Liverpool are reportedly considering re-appointing Jurgen Klopp as their new head coach amid increasing pressure on Arne Slot.
The Reds’ 3-2 defeat to Brentford on Saturday evening was their fourth consecutive loss in the Premier League and they are now down in sixth place in the English top flight table, seven points behind league leaders Arsenal.
Slot still retains the full backing of the Liverpool hierarchy, however he is under pressure to fix the Reds’ current slump following a record-breaking summer transfer window in which they spent a whopping €482.9 million on Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giovanni Leoni.
If Liverpool decide that Slot is no longer the right man for the job, they are likely to negotiate a deal with club legend Klopp.
That is according to X account IndyKaila, who posted on social media: “Liverpool are concerned [and] Jurgen Klopp would say ‘yes.’
“Liverpool owners/officials are really starting to get concerned over the team's performances, not just the results.
“Arne Slot’s job is safe for now, but if performances don’t pick up, they won’t hesitate to make a change mid-season.
“Our sources are saying the club owners think Jurgen Klopp might be open to a sensational return. But as of now, there’s been no contact.”
Liverpool to sack Arne Slot?
Klopp resigned as Liverpool boss in 2024, after a supremely successful nine-year stint at Anfield, and Slot was chosen as his replacement after an impressive spell in charge of Eredivisie giants Feyenoord.
The Reds spent just €42 million during Slot’s first transfer window at the club and they were expected to endure a difficult 2024-25 campaign following the departure of Klopp, however they won just their second ever Premier League title.
Slot enjoyed a fantastic debut season at Anfield as Liverpool claimed the English top flight trophy with 84 points, but recent results are concerning and the club could be tempted to make a managerial change if things fail to improve soon.
