It's 2026 January Deadline Day, giving clubs across the globe just a few more hours to strengthen their squads at a key point in the season.

Premier League clubs unsurprisingly dominated the spending charts during the 2025 summer transfer window, and teams in the English top flight have dipped back into the market yet again this January.

This time last year, Manchester City spent a whopping €218 million on Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Juma Bah during the winter window in a bid to save a disappointing campaign under Pep Guardiola. Meanwhile, Jhon Duran joined Al-Nassr for €77m, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia moved from Napoli to Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of €70m, and RB Leipzig paid €50m to sign Xavi Simons permanently.

The January 2026 window has not been quite as spectacular in terms of big-money transfers, but there have nevertheless been some major deals. Bournemouth superstar Antoine Semenyo has joined Man City for €72m, while they have also signed Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi on a cut-price deal six months before his contract would have expired.

Palace have shattered their transfer record on Brennan Johnson, while West Ham have brought in several fresh faces in a bid to stave off relegation. Tottenham have signed Conor Gallagher and Souza for €40m and €15m, respectively.

Chelsea are trying to sign Stade Rennais youngster Jeremy Jacquet before the deadline, and there may yet be some big striker movement in the Premier League, with Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta and Wolves' Jorgen Strand Larsen both set to move clubs before the window shuts.

The month has also seen high-profile sackings with Enzo Maresca at Chelsea, Ruben Amorim at Man Utd, Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid and Dino Toppmoller at Eintracht Frankfurt all losing their jobs.
