Fabrizio Romano confirms probable Man Utd transfer in January
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that a January return to Serie A is on the cards for Joshua Zirkzee.
Zirkzee has played just 74 minutes of Premier League football this season – the second least of any Man Utd player who has featured this season.
The Dutchman has no future at the club under Ruben Amorim, and Romano says on his Italian YouTube channel that if Zirkzee continues to find no space then a transfer away is possible, if not probable.
Romano says that a transfer back to Serie A is the most likely destination. Juventus tried to sign him last January, while Napoli and Inter were interested this past summer.
Zirkzee to leave Man Utd in January?
It seems certain that Serie A clubs will return for Zirkzee this coming January.
Roma have been heavily linked, with coach Gian Piero Gasperini a big fan.
Como and Cesc Fabregas also like the striker.
Zirkzee joined Man Utd in the summer of 2024 in a €42.5 million move from Bologna.
The 23-year-old Zirkzee was one of the standout players in Serie A in the 2023-24 season, leading the club to historic qualification to the Champions League.
He was often compared to former Milan and Barcelona star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
However, he has struggled to show that form at Man Utd and has been criticised for a lack of goal threat.
In total, Zirkzee has made 53 appearances for Utd and scored seven goals.
