Fabrizio Romano reveals Arsenal beat European giants to huge talent
Arsenal believe they have "won the jackpot" in signing Cristhian Mosquera this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Mosquera arrived at Arsenal in a deal worth just €15 million from Valencia as he had just one year left on his contract.
The 21-year-old had been signed as a support player to William Saliba and Gabriel in the heart of Arteta’s defence, but he has featured regularly in the early weeks of the season.
And he has earned rave reviews for a string of fantastic performances with his value at least trebling from his transfer fee.
Arsenal win jackpot with Mosquera
And Romano says in his latest YouTube video that Arsenal are so impressed by Mosquera that they believe they "won the jackpot" signing such a huge talent at such a small fee.
Romano adds that Arsenal beat Champions League runners-up Inter Milan and Serie A side Como to sign Mosquera.
Indeed, Como even offered €25m in the summer to buy Mosquera but it was Arsenal who managed to get the deal done.
The defender has a contract in north London until 2030.
Born to Colombian parents, Mosquera plays his international football for Spain. He has not yet been capped by the senior Spain team but has 12 caps for Spain Under-21s.
Arsenal are flying at the top of the Premier League after an impressive start to the season.
They won 2-0 at home to West Ham on Saturday thanks to goals from Declan Rice and a Bukayo Saka penalty.
That leaves them one point ahead of Premier League champions Liverpool, who lost their third game in a row in all competitions, 2-1 at Chelsea.
