Former Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has agreed to join Wolfsburg, according to Danish media and Fabrizio Romano.

The 33-year-old has been without a club since being released by Man Utd earlier this summer when his contract expired. Eriksen's departure from Old Trafford had been inevitable for some time, although he was arguably the club's best midfielder in the early stages of last season.

Eriksen previously insisted that he has no interest in moving to the Middle East despite reported offers from Saudi Arabia. There had also been brief talks with Wrexham, but his agent later made it clear that the Denmark international was planning to remain in a top-five league.

According to Tipsbladet and since confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Eriksen has now found a new club. He will join the sizeable Danish contingent at Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg.

Contract terms with the veteran midfielder have been agreed, and Eriksen has already flown from Odense to Wolfsburg to complete his medical and finalise his move.

Eriksen to become Wolfsburg's SIXTH Dane

Eriksen will likely feel right at home at Wolfsburg as the club already have five Danish players on their books, thanks to managing director Peter Christiansen.

The 50-year-old has been calling the shots at the Volkswagen-backed club since 2024, and his connection to his home country has actually caused a bit of friction.

Christiansen reportedly did not get along with previous head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl and wanted to replace him with Copenhagen boss Jacob Neestrup. However, no agreement for the Dane could be reached, forcing Wolfsburg to settle for Dutchman Paul Simonis as a wildcard option instead.

Joakim Maehle, Jesper Lindstrom, Andreas Skov Olsen, Jonas Wind and Adam Daghim are already at Wolfsburg and will help Eriksen acclimatise to life in Germany. The Wolves started the Bundesliga season with a win over Heidenheim and a draw against Mainz.
