Fabrizio Romano has provided some massive updates on the biggest transfer stories from around Europe, including the latest on Angelo Stiller, Marc Guehi and Marcus Rashford.

Courtois set for new Real Madrid deal

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that Thibaut Courtois is set to extend his Real Madrid contract.

"Real Madrid are very happy with their summer transfer window, with the start of Xabi Alonso in LaLiga. Three games, three wins. Also very happy with the impact of the players, also with the new signings. The last one was [Franco] Mastantuono, but also with Trent [Alexander-Arnold], [Alvaro] Carreras, [Dean] Huijsen, all the signings they completed this summer.

"I wanted to add on Real Madrid that they are also working on new contracts. Two contract extensions, two deals at Real Madrid are already done and completed. One is Brahim Diaz. Brahim has already signed his new contract at Real Madrid, so we wait for official communication.

"And then Thibaut Courtois. Agreement is done. For these two players, we just wait for Real Madrid official communication. In some cases, Real Madrid don't even do that. Like with Ferland Mendy, who signed a new deal one year ago and there was no official communication.

"Courtois is staying, considered as a really important player for the present and future of Real Madrid. And this is why, for example, Real Madrid never entered the conversation for [Gianluigi] Donnarumma. Donnarumma was a big opportunity on the market, but Real Madrid never went for him because they are extending Courtois.

"For Brahim, at some point we had some rumours about Italian and English clubs this summer, but Brahim decided to sign a new contract at Real Madrid already a few weeks ago."

Guehi to Liverpool not guaranteed in 2026

Romano then addressed the situation of Marc Guehi and a potential move to Liverpool in 2026.

"First clear point: Marc Guehi will not sign a new contract at Crystal Palace. That is guaranteed. Guehi already informed Palace about that at the beginning of the window. He always wanted to be respectful. He's always been a top professional.

"But at the same time, he's not going to sign a new contract. It's already been decided a long time ago. Palace are aware of that. So what happens now? He might leave in January for a transfer fee, or he could leave in the summer on a free transfer.

"On a free transfer, the interest from Liverpool will be there because Liverpool wanted Guehi, considered Guehi as an important defender and maintain Guehi on their list, that's for sure. It's not over between Liverpool and Guehi, I would say.

"But it's also not guaranteed. At this stage, we can't say 100 per cent that Guehi is going to Liverpool because what I'm hearing is that several clubs around Europe, not only in England, are considering a move for Guehi.

"He is seen as a big opportunity by several clubs. A top defender like this, available on a free, you don't have to negotiate with Crystal Palace from January. That's a big, big story, a big opportunity. Keep an eye on the situation because liverpool will be there in the race, but now they will have competition.

"This summer there was basically no competition because the player decided to go to Liverpool and there was an agreement. Liverpool will remain in conversation for 2026, but now other clubs can try to join the race and try to outbid Liverpool."

Stiller one to watch for 2026

Next up, Romano spoke about Angel Stiller, confirming that the Stuttgart midfielder could be on the move next year.

"Angelo Stiller is going to be a topic for 2026. The player, this summer, was never close to a move. There were reports about Real Madrid having an agreement with the player. Not true. Real Madrid considered Stiller internally, but Real Madrid never made a contract proposal to Stiller or to Stuttgart.

"Stiller will remain a topic of interest for several clubs in 2026. We had reports about Man Utd's mission to sign him in the final days of the transfer window - completely fake, no mission, no negotiations, no discussions, no talks with the player, no talks with Stuttgart. Man United never considered a move in the final days for Stiller.

"In 2026, that might be different. Premier League, LaLiga clubs, I'm sure will be very interested also because the player is open to a move abroad from Germany to try a new kind of experience, a new kind of league, from what I'm hearing.

"Stiller, I think, is going to be another name we are going to mention quite a lot because some clubs are already going to plan for some missions to follow him, to scout him, to see how he will develop again and again and again this season."

Rashford would cost Barcelona €30m

Lastly, Romano revealed how much it would cost Barcelona to permanently sign Man Utd forward Marcus Rashford.

"This was one of the big moves of the summer transfer window, quite surprising because it happened very fast. Not a surprise that Barca wanted Rashford because Rashford was already a top target for Barca in January. Rashford was this close to joining Barcelona from Man Utd, but the deal didn't happen because Ansu Fati, at that time, had to go to Rennes in France, but then the player rejected the bid.

"Now, Rashford is at Barcelona on loan with a buy option from Man Utd. The buy option clause - which is not mandatory, it's just a

free buy option, so Barcelona can decide in the summer whether they want to attack and go for that or not - is worth €30 million.

"There is also an agreement on the coverage of the salary. There are also some bonuses based on performance, so it's a complicated structure. Barcelona will now assess Rashford, and then they will make a decision at the end of the season."
