The 41-year-old was appointed as Man Utd’s U21 assistant manager this summer, however he has left Old Trafford after just three months at the club in order to join Arsenal.

Horseman has been hired as a Professional Development Phase - Elite Player Development Coach at Arsenal and he will manage the Gunners’ U19 side in the UEFA Youth League and the EFL Trophy.

He has previously coached at Southampton, Watford, Bristol Rovers and Forest Green Rovers, in addition to his short spell at Man Utd, and he will play a key role in the development of players within Arsenal’s famed academy system.

The reason behind his Man Utd exit hasn’t been confirmed, although it is undoubtedly a blow for the Red Devils given the length of his tenure at the club.

Arsenal appoint Man Utd staff member

Upon confirmation of his move from Man Utd to Arsenal, Horseman said: “I'm absolutely delighted to be joining the Arsenal academy. It's a fantastic opportunity, and I’m really looking forward to supporting the development of the players while also leading the UEFA Youth League and EFL Trophy teams.

“I can’t wait to get started and contribute to the exciting work already being done here at Arsenal.”

Meanwhile, academy manager Per Mertesacker added: “We are really pleased to welcome David into our academy. He has a detailed knowledge of the game and will bring his wealth of footballing experience into the club to help progress both our staff and players alike.

“As a person, he will fit into our environment and culture perfectly, and will continue to help us drive our vision for the future. I look forward to seeing how he brings his skills to life on and off the pitch, and, in turn, help to challenge and care for our boys.”
