The Denmark international has endured a difficult two-year spell at Old Trafford and a departure is on the cards following Benjamin Sesko’s initial €76.5 million transfer to the club.

Hojlund has previously stated that he wants to remain at Man Utd this summer and fight for his place next season, but he has now decided to explore the possibility of returning to Italy in order to join Milan.

That is according to the Manchester Evening News, who claim that Ruben Amorim’s side are “confident” of reaching an agreement to offload Hojlund to San Siro before the end of the 2025 summer transfer window.

However, Milan are currently eager to sign the 22-year-old on a season-long loan deal, while Man Utd are contrastingly hoping for a permanent sale. An agreement may therefore be complicated.

Rasmus Hojlund to join AC Milan this summer?

Hojlund is unhappy that he is being forced out by Man Utd, but an exit is on the cards following the recent arrival of Sesko.

The Denmark star was an unused substitute during Man Utd’s final pre-season friendly against Fiorentina on Saturday, with Mason Mount deployed as a false-nine instead, and Milan are interested in bringing him back to Serie A amid Alvaro Morata’s imminent move to Como.

Hojlund has scored 26 goals in 95 first-team appearances for Man Utd, although he only found the back of the net on four occasions in the Premier League last term and the Red Devils are eager to cut their losses this summer.

The 22-year-old currently boasts an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €47.2m, but Man Utd are willing to sanction a sale for just €34.7m (£30m), as per the Manchester Evening News.
