Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho’s decision to reject AS Roma is set to inadvertently help Chelsea sign Alejandro Garnacho.

Sancho, 25, spent last season on loan at Chelsea, but Enzo Maresca’s side opted to pay a €6 million penalty fee in order to cancel their obligation to buy him on a permanent deal this summer.

As a result, the former England international was forced to return to Man Utd in July, although he has trained away from the club’s first-team since moving back to Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim has admitted that Sancho wants to leave the Red Devils before Transfer Deadline Day and the club are determined to sanction a sale as they look to raise funds to purchase a new central midfielder.

However, Sancho has rejected the chance to join Roma, despite the fact that Man Utd are pushing him to accept the latest proposal he has received from the Serie A giants.

In fact, Roma sporting director Frederic Massara recently admitted: “He’s [Sancho] a strong player who’s been linked to all the top Italian teams. [But] I don’t think the conditions or motivation are right to move forward with the deal.”

Tyrique George to join Roma?

As a result of their likely failure to land Sancho, Roma have now turned their attention to signing Chelsea winger Tyrique George, who has asked to leave Stamford Bridge in order to maximise his first-team game time this season.

That is according to football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X: “EXCL: AS Roma ask for Tyrique George deal conditions after initial contact revealed in July.

“He’s one of the options at left winger if Sancho keeps not opening the doors to the move. Chelsea winger on Roma shortlist as also RB Leipzig and PL clubs are still very keen.”

George’s potential move to Roma would raise even more transfer funds for Chelsea and would likely enable them to finally reach a full agreement with Man Utd for Garnacho.
