Ambitious Everton open talks over 'complicated' Jack Grealish deal
Everton have opened talks with Manchester City over a deal for Jack Grealish, according to various reports.
The England star is on his way out of the Etihad after seeing his importance to Pep Guardiola's side diminish drastically since Man City won the treble in 2022/23.
Grealish was primarily a benchwarmer last term, prompting even Guardiola to admit that it would be better for the winger to find a new club. Unsurprisingly, then, his days at Man City have been numbered for some time.
Up until now, there had been little movement for Grealish, however, with suitors likely fearful of his whopping £300,000 per week salary. This has now changed, as Everton have finally opened talks with Man City.
The Toffees have been linked with Grealish for several weeks, and they are now acting on their interest. It is a hugely ambitious deal, but if completed, it would be a massive boon for David Moyes and the club as they head into their first season away from Goodison Park.
Everton open Grealish talks
According to David Ornstein, and also reported by The Telegraph and Fabrizio Romano, Everton have opened formal talks with Man City to see if a deal can be done for Grealish.
The initial plan is to sign the 29-year-old on loan for the upcoming campaign, but Ornstein acknowledges that this is a 'complicated' undertaking with no guarantees of a successful outcome.
The Telegraph confirms that Grealish is 'surplus to requirements' at Man City. Given the €117.5 million investment in the winger, the Cityzens are keen to get the 'right deal' for him, which suggests that they would favour a permanent exit.
Grealish has been working with a personal trainer to ensure that he is in the best possible shape for a transfer. With the World Cup coming up next year, the Three Lions star's next move is of crucial importance.
