Chelsea superstar Moises Caicedo makes successful transfer plea
Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has successfully convinced Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez to join Marseille.
The Ecuador defender is expected to depart the Belgian giants before the end of the summer window after establishing himself as one of Europe's most exciting young centre-backs.
Marseille and Crystal Palace have been doing battle over his signature in recent days, with the Eagles viewing him as a potential replacement for Marc Guehi, who is in talks to join Liverpool.
However, already at the weekend, reports emerged that Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo could have a role to play in this deal. The Blues star is said to have a close relationship with Ordonez and reportedly advised him to prioritise a move to Marseille.
Caicedo, the story went, was advising his compatriot to make the move to France because of the presence of Roberto de Zerbi, who coached the midfielder at Brighton.
Ordonez wants Marseille move
It seems that Caicedo's argument was persuasive, as Ordonez now has his heart set on a move to Marseille. In fact, the 21-year-old was absent from Brugge's training on Monday to push through his move to the South of France.
Foot Mercato confirms that Ordonez is 'determined' to join Marseille and that Brugge are actively scouring the market for replacements. Fabrizio Romano has corroborated that OM are 'working on a deal' for the defender.
Marseille are looking to have a hugely impressive end to the window, with discussions over a move for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos also currently in full swing.
As for Crystal Palace, Ordonez's other suitors, it seems that they have accepted defeat and have moved on to different targets. Romano reports that they are now rivalling Aston Villa for the signing of Toulouse teenager Jaydee Canvot.
