Viktor Gyokeres sacrifices MILLIONS to join Arsenal
Sporting CP superstar Viktor Gyokeres has sacrificed €2 million in wages to force through a move to Arsenal, according to reports in Portugal.
The Sweden international is on the verge of a blockbuster move to the Emirates Stadium, with Arsenal locked in advanced negotiations over a lucrative summer deal.
Gyokeres has scored 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting and he has informed the Portuguese club that he will not return for pre-season training as he looks to complete a transfer to Arsenal, as exclusively revealed by The Transfers Podcast.
The 27-year-old has agreed personal terms with Mikel Arteta’s side, and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are close to finalising a fee with Sporting CP.
In fact, Gyokeres himself has contributed to Arsenal’s latest transfer offer, according to a bombshell report from Record.
The Portuguese outlet state that Gyokeres has given up €2m from Arsenal’s salary offer, with the Gunners using this money to increase their bid to a fixed fee of €65m, plus an additional €15m in potential add-ons.
Gyokeres is “doing everything in his power” to join Arsenal this summer, as per Record, and this report has been confirmed by the aforementioned Romano.

Although Arsenal are yet to finalise a fee with Sporting CP, it’s believed that an agreement will be reached shortly, especially as Gyokeres has firmly set his sights on joining the north London giants this summer.
He will become the latest high-profile star to complete a move to the Emirates Stadium when the proposed deal is confirmed, with Arsenal already having announced the summer arrivals of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi.
The Gunners are also set to sign Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard and Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera, while they are in advanced negotiations with Chelsea over a deal for Noni Madueke.
