Rangers launch bid for £10m-rated Premier League star: Ibrox giants target EIGHTH signing
Rangers manager Russell Martin is still aiming to strengthen his squad ahead of the start of the Premiership season and is ready to launch a bid for an eighth Ibrox arrival.
Martin made a successful start in the dugout on Tuesday as he watched his side overcome Panathinaikos 2-0 at home to take a step towards the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
The former Southampton boss, though, is trying to revolutionise the Glasgow giants in a short period and has already added Max Aarons, Nasser Djiga, Emmanuel Fernandez, Thelo Aasgaard, Lyall Cameron, Djeidi Gassama and Joe Rothwell to his squad this summer.
Of these players, only Aasgaard, who was injured, Fernandez and Cameron, who were unused substitutes, did not see midweek action.
Now Sky Sports reports that the Gers have their eyes fixed on Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
An England U21 winger, he spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, where he contributed seven goals and two assists in the Championship.
The Gers have offered Palace a loan bid but this has been knocked back. The Premier League side would prefer to offload the 22-year-old on a permanent basis. Sky adds that there was no £10 million obligation in the Glasgow side’s offer.
Although there is little prospect of Rangers offering Palace this figure for Rak-Sakyi, the indications are that they appear to be willing to be patient in order to land the player later in the transfer window, when a loan might be possible.
Who’s place with Rak-Sakyi take?
Rak-Sakyi primarily plays off the right wing, which would seem to put Kieran Dowell’s spot under threat.
Dowell has played a surprisingly large role after returning to the club and even started against Panathinaikos. Prior to Martin’s arrival, his Ibrox career seemed to be over.
Findlay Curtis, who impressed in that clash against the Greeks, scoring a spectacular opening goal, is less likely to be impacted by the arrival of the Englishman.
