Atalanta are set to imminently make an official €12m offer for Chiesa, a bid that could be enough to get the deal done.

A three-year contract for Chiesa has been lined up and Liverpool will pay for a portion of his salary so that Atalanta can afford it.

Chiesa to Atalanta

Chiesa has been transfer listed by Liverpool and is not in their plans for the coming season, having been left out of their pre-season training camp.

Atalanta are in the market for a replacement for Ademola Lookman, who will leave the club this summer and is in talks to join Inter Milan.

Liverpool only signed Chiesa for just €15m from Juventus last summer on a four-year contract.

However, Chiesa has had a miserable season with Liverpool despite the club winning the Premier League.

He played just 466 minutes all season as manager Arne Slot never fancied him, although Chiesa did manage to score in the League Cup final.

Chiesa also suffered from a number of injuries as he physically struggles to recover from the ACL injury back in 2022 that has derailed his career.

Chiesa hopes that he can resurrect his career in Bergamo and win his place back in the Italy squad in what is a World Cup year.

New Italy manager Rino Gattuso has warned Chiesa that he must play regularly if he is to be considered for a call-up.

Chiesa was a star at Euro 2020, playing a crucial role as Italy won the tournament.
