Chelsea agreement CONFIRMED as double deal collapses

Borussia Dortmund will not sign Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong, but the two clubs remain in discussions for Carney Chukwuemeka.
The Blues and their Bundesliga counterparts have been in talks all summer as several weeks of negotiations were needed to agree a deal for Jamie Gittens. The England youth international ultimately got his desired move to the Premier League, with Dortmund pocketing a handsome €65 million.
As BVB boss Sebastian Kehl pointed out earlier this summer, he maintains a good relationship with Chelsea, and this is proving fruitful this window. Several other names came up during the talks over Gittens, chiefly Josh Acheampong and Carney Chukwuemeka.
The latter spent the second half of last season on loan at Dortmund and managed to show significant promise in his limited minutes. In the past 48 hours, Dortmund have managed to reach an agreement with Chelsea to extend his loan for the remainder of their Club World Cup campaign.
However, according to Nizaar Kinsella and Ben Jacobs, talks over the midfielder remain ongoing as Dortmund are interested in keeping Chukwuemeka for another season. There is no final decision yet as Chelsea would prefer a sale, which the Germans can't afford.
Acheampong to stay at Chelsea
Another player Dortmund have expressed an interest in in recent weeks is highly-rated young defender Acheampong, who was at the heart of a tense contract dispute with Chelsea last year.
The teenager was stalling on signing a new deal as he wanted a clear pathway to the first team, which eventually led to Chelsea essentially banishing him from the club altogether.
He was ultimately pardoned when he agreed fresh terms, and he holds no grudges. On the contrary, Acheampong has now confirmed that he is planning to stay at Chelsea this summer.
"I don't really look at it or think of my future," Acheampong told the BBC ahead of Chelsea's Club World Cup clash with Palmeiras. "I just focus on my football. Enzo [Maresca] said he thinks I'm a good player. I love the club, so I always want to stay at Chelsea and just show what I can do."
