Rodrygo PUSHED to Arsenal amid Real Madrid 'problem'
Those close to Real Madrid winger Rodrygo are 'encouraging' him to consider a move to Arsenal, according to Spanish media.
The Brazilian superstar is at a crossroads in his career. Rodrygo hoped to win back his place at Real Madrid under Xabi Alonso, but quite the opposite transpired at the Club World Cup.
After starting in the opening game, Rodrygo was merely a substitute going forward, ultimately only racking up 92 minutes over the course of Los Blancos' unsuccessful six-game Club World Cup campaign.
After Real Madrid crashed out against PSG in humiliating fashion, Alonso described Rodrygo's omission as a 'technical decision,' but insisted that his choice had nothing to do with the player's future.
However, according to AS, Rodrygo is increasingly becoming a 'problem' for Real Madrid, and Alonso's actions suggest that the club are actively 'inviting him out in this transfer market' to get him off the books.
Rodrygo's camp keen on Arsenal?
The report goes on to say that although Rodrygo has yet to make a decision, those close to him are increasingly 'encouraging' him to leave Real Madrid for the good of his career. This comes amid reports claiming that the 24-year-old wants to stay.
Rodrygo is set for crunch talks with Real Madrid and Alonso over the coming week or so, and thus far, there is no clear indication as to what the player will ultimately decide to do.
Real Madrid have made it clear to him that they will not stand in his way if he opts to leave, and Arsenal are understood to still be waiting in the wings, ready to pounce on his availability.
The Spanish outlet adds that the 'cards are already on the table' ahead of Rodrygo's discussion with Alonso. "If the player is not considered, Rodrygo would not object to a departure as long as he can choose his destination, and that's where Arsenal shines," the report states.
