Arsenal still eyeing Rodrygo or Eze transfer despite Madueke agreement
Arsenal could still pursue a deal for a winger such as Rodrygo or Eberechi Eze this summer despite agreeing to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea, with Mikel Arteta set to make another crucial transfer decision in the coming days.
Madueke has struck terms to join Arsenal on a five-year contract and the deal is expected to progress rapidly after Chelsea agreed to a fee of £52 million (€60m) for the England international.
Arsenal’s decision to pursue Madueke generated controversy from some fans who felt the club should be aiming for a superior option but Arteta may still look to sign another wide forward this summer should Leandro Trossard leave the club.
The Times report that Trossard has agreed personal terms with Fenerbahce over a three-year contract but the Turkish side have yet to meet Arsenal’s demands over a transfer fee, with the Gunners reportedly holding out for around £20m (€23m).
With Trossard having just two years remaining on his current deal and seeking an extension on improved terms, Arsenal are said to be ‘willing’ to allow the 30-year-old to leave this summer.
Should Trossard be sold, Arsenal are then likely to replace him with an option such as Eze, who has an agreement to leave Crystal Palace this summer for around £60m (€70m) and the attacking midfielder’s signing could calm tensions following Madueke’s impending arrival.
Rodrygo leaning towards Real Madrid stay amid showdown talks with Xabi Alonso
Eze is likely to be a more realistic target for Arsenal than Rodrygo despite Real Madrid being ‘open’ to selling the Brazilian this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Rodrygo is set to hold talks with Xabi Alonso next week to resolve his future, having started just one game in the Club World Cup before Real were knocked out by Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final earlier this week.
However, ge globo in Brazil have claimed that Rodrygo is leaning towards staying at Real and fighting for his place in the team and the 24-year-old will be allowed to make his own choice over his future.
It is believed that Rodrygo will only leave Real if the club request him to do so, although the La Liga side’s asking price of €90m may prove to be a stumbling block for Arsenal in any case, leaving Eze as Arteta’s most feasible option to add more quality to his wide players.
