Arsenal and Fulham are in advanced talks over a deal for Reiss Nelson, according to David Ornstein.

The 25-year-old was supposed to spend the full 2024/25 season on loan at Craven Cottage, but his stint at Fulham had to be cut short in the most unfortunate of circumstances.

A hamstring injury suffered in December turned out to be very serious and sidelined him for the rest of the campaign. Nelson is now back at Arsenal, but he is not expected to stay with his boyhood club.

The versatile wide player has struggled to nail down a regular place in Mikel Arteta's side since bursting onto the scene, and his stint as a Gunner is likely to come to an end for good this summer.

Indeed, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Arsenal and Fulham are now in advanced talks over a deal that would see Nelson return to the Cottagers.

Fulham to sign Nelson

The transfer insider stresses that no agreement has as yet been reached, but a deal appears to be on the right track. The exact structure of the move is not yet entirely clear.

It is possible that Nelson rejoins Fulham on an initial loan deal. Naturally, the Cottagers would prefer an option to purchase him next summer, while Arsenal want an obligation.

However, the idea of an outright sale is also being floated. Despite this uncertainty, Ornstein describes this possible transfer as being 'close,' although there could yet be a hiccup if the two sides can't find common ground.

The two clubs have done plenty of business in the past. Just last summer, Emile Smith Rowe joined Fulham from Arsenal in a club-record deal. The likes of Bernd Leno, Calum Chambers and Cedric Soares also previously made the trek from North to West London.
