Arsenal spending spree: Arteta backed with RECORD investment
Arsenal are on the verge of confirming several high-profile signings as Mikel Arteta continues to be heavily backed in the transfer market.
The Gunners have already announced the arrivals of Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Brentford captain Christian Norgaard and Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi for a combined €87.2 million so far this summer, but their transfer activity is showing no signs of slowing down.
Arsenal have reportedly finalised a deal to sign Chelsea winger Noni Madueke for a fee in excess of €58m, and they are also pushing to sign both Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres and Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera.
In addition, Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze remains a top target, while Real Madrid winger Rodrygo is on the Gunners’ radar ahead of an imminent summer transfer.
Arsenal are looking to significantly bolster the first-team squad available to Arteta in a bid to end their five-year trophy drought and lift their first Premier League title in over 20 years.
In fact, they are set to smash the record for the most money they have ever spent in a single transfer window.
This year, however, Arsenal are set to smash that figure out of the park.
When the signings of Madueke (€58m), Gyokeres (€70m) and Mosquera (€22m) are confirmed, Arsenal’s summer spending will reach €237.2m - which will break their record from 2023 - while they could add further reinforcements in the form of Rodrygo or Eze.
Mikel Arteta under pressure
Arsenal have made a concerted effort to back Arteta in the market this summer and he will be under immense pressure to end the club’s trophy drought as a result.
The Gunners will boast arguably the best squad in the entire Premier League and they will head into the new campaign as one of the favourites to lift the English top flight title next May.
