The 18-year-old’s current deal at the Emirates Stadium is due to expire next summer, but Mikel Arteta’s side are determined to extend his stay in north London and fresh talks are expected to “accelerate” this week.

That is according to BBC Sport reporter Sami Mokbel, who claims that Nwaneri is set to receive a five-year contract offer from Arsenal, with negotiations now at an advanced stage.

The England U21 international scored nine goals and provided two assists in 39 first-team appearances last season, and Arsenal are determined to retain him.

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that Nwaneri is closing in on a new deal at the Emirates Stadium. He posted on X: “Understand Arsenal have made progress in the recent days for Ethan Nwaneri’s new deal.

“The club has presented vision/project for Nwaneri in the upcoming years including discussions on game time. Arsenal hopeful to get green light and sign new contract soon.”

Chelsea want Ethan Nwaneri

Nwaneri has been heavily linked with a shock move to Chelsea in recent weeks, with the Blues eager reportedly willing to offer “important money” in order to bring him to the club this summer, but Arsenal have ruled out a sale of the Hale End academy graduate.

The Gunners view him as one of their most promising players and they see him as a key member of Arteta’s squad, despite the imminent arrival of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke and the continued pursuit of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

Chelsea have already signed Estevao Willian, Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Kendry Paez to bolster their attack so far this summer, but they remain interested in signing Nwaneri as they continue to chase the best young players in world football.
