England star Angel Gomes starts Man City transfer domino

Former Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes has rejected a return to the Premier League, according to various reports.
The England international has established himself as one of Ligue 1's best midfielders in recent years after moving from Man Utd to Lille. However, his time in the North of France has now come to an end, with the 24-year-old electing to run down his contract.
There had been plenty of speculation surrounding a potential move back to the Premier League, and talkSPORT has now confirmed that Tottenham and West Ham have held talks with Gomes.
However, the midfielder has decided to reject a return to his hometown of London. Instead, Gomes is set to remain in France and link up with Olympique de Marseille, as first reported by RMC and since also confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.
In doing so, Gomes is seemingly set to start a transfer domino that will culminate in Tijjani Reijnders completing his highly anticipated switch to Man City.
Rabiot to Milan, Reijnders to Man City
Gomes' move to Marseille casts doubt on the future of Adrien Rabiot, who joined the Ligue 1 giants on a free transfer in September after leaving Juventus. Although still under contract for another year, there has been speculation about a return to Italy in recent days.
These rumours stem from AC Milan's decision to appoint Max Allegri as their new head coach, and the France international has certainly done nothing to calm the speculation.
When quizzed about a reunion with the long-time former Juventus boss, Rabiot said earlier this week: “I actually speak to Allegri often. Giovanni Rossi, [Robert] de Zerbi’s advisor, also works with him, and when he calls him, he tells me: ‘Come and I’ll put you through to your dad.’
"I can talk to Allegri about everything and not just football. I really appreciate him as a person. He has a winning mentality. And it’s clear, if he calls me, I’ll always be available to talk to him.”
Should a move for Rabiot indeed materialise, he would come in to replace the Man City-bound Reijnders at AC Milan. The Dutchman is set to complete his medical on Sunday ahead of a transfer to the Cityzens that could cost as much as €70 million.
